Featured Project:

¡Empieza la conversación, Edúcate! Padres y jovenes Canbis/Parents & Youth Cannabis

Mission: The Coalition’s mission is to build community collaboration around efforts to reduce and/or prevent youth drug and alcohol use and misuse, address factors that increase risks of usage and promote factors that increase resiliency

Vision: That every community member in Doña Ana County has the opportunity to live a life free of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and adverse health behaviors.

Facebook Page: Visit the UP! Coalition Facebook page to learn about our current efforts.

Programs History: The Unified Prevention (UP!) Coalition for Doña Ana County was reorganized in 2015.  About a decade prior to the UP! Coalition another coalition existed but became defunct after losing its major funding source, leadership and membership. Under new leadership, emphasis was placed on recruitment of new members and strengthening partnerships. In 2015, the Coalition’s membership grew, community awareness and branding recognition increased, and funding diversity began.  The Coalition extended membership and prevention activities beyond the urban center of Las Cruces, into the rural north and south Doña Ana County, including the communities of Sunland Park, Anthony, Chaparral and Hatch.

Due to the County’s large geographic area, distance between communities, economic diversity, resource disparities, and limited connectivity, the Coalition is challenged to meet the diverse needs of all youth throughout the county. The Coalition works to do as much at the local level to engage youth and parents through youth groups, community engagement and events.

The UP! Coalition draws its strength from at least 12 sectors of the community: Law Enforcement, Youth-Serving Organizations, Government Agencies, State and Local Substance Abuse Agencies, Community Members, Youth, Businesses, Media Groups, Civic Organizations, Schools, Healthcare Professionals, and the Faith Community.

Meetings: UP!C meetings are held every third Thursday of every month, 10 a.m. -12 p.m. and available via ZOOM. For login information contact upcoalition@chi-phi.org
